Boilerplate: History’s Mechanical Marvel creators Paul Guinan and Anina Bennet will be our Special Guests of Honor at the 2011 Steampunk Exhibition! Some of us have been reading and enjoying Boilerplate for years now; in fact, soon after the 2010 Exhibition, as we were discussing who could possibly follow Girl Genius creators Phil & Kaja Foglio as Guests of Honor, Paul and Anina seemed the only logical choice. In between then and right now, we’re happy to see that we’re not alone in our appreciation of their work.
.
J.J. Abrams (Bad Robot Productions) and Deborah Newmyer (Outlaw Productions) have plans to produce a movie adaptation of Boilerplate through Paramount Pictures. Read what the Hollywood Reporter has to say and Watch the Boilerplate trailer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4x06FnP1OQ
.
You will have ample opportunity to hear and chat with our Special Guests at Nova Albion in March; we will have artwork to show and of course their beautiful graphic novel coffee table book!
.
For more on Paul and Anina, check out their biographical info page (which, I have to say, is one of the most entertaining I’ve read) and perhaps peruse their Victorian Era Robots page as well! Most importantly, one might ask oneself: How might history have been different, with the aid of Boilerplate? Was it?
