Clockwork Salon was founded in 2009 by Ariane Wolfe and Mark Anderson with the goal of bringing an awareness of Steampunk literature, alternative histories and DIY sciences to a broader audience. We salute our fantastic volunteers who give their time and effort to create the Nova Albion Steampunk Exhibition each year!
.
Mission:
Clockwork Salon Society seeks to provide a place where people of all ages can explore alternate technologies and histories, experience the aesthetics of the 19th century and enjoy, discuss and critique Science Fiction, Steampunk and related literary genres. We applaud and support the DIY movement and artists, artisans and makers of all stripes! Clockwork Salon has produced The Nova Albion Steampunk Exhibition and the Indescribable Delights of the Clockwork Caliphate, an Ottoman Empire feast and gala.

Biographies:
ARIANE WOLFE (Founder, President) – In 2008, Ariane co-founded and coordinated SteamPowered: The California Steampunk Convention, the first-ever dedicated Steampunk Con. In 2009 she partnered with Mark Anderson to resurrect the original idea, find new areas to expand into and create a solid nonprofit organization to underwrite the endeavor. Ariane’s particular bend on Steampunk is on the costuming & characterization side; she has an appreciation for clockwork mechanicals, Victorian-era clothing, Earl Grey tea and 19th century ballroom dance.
.
MARK ANDERSON (Founder, Vice President) – Mark comes from 20+ years of working in the book publishing industry, attending science fiction conventions and events, directing and performing at the Renaissance and Dickens Fair(e)s in Northern and Southern California. Mark approaches through the “steam” and “punk” areas, as well as being a fan of Science Fiction, history and DIY tinkering; he has a cynical wit and a keen eye for graphic design, and will not often be seen in costume.
